EOTD: When the beach meets the ocean

'Ello! I'm back with one of my favourite eyelooks of the moment.
This look is a typical pop of colour look, but rather than just black eyeliner and blue eyeliner, I also mixed my eyeshadows: something neutral on top and a pop of colour underneath.

I was inspired by the beach for this look. The colours on my eyelid represent the sand on the beach and the horizon when the sun goes down.
The blue and green eyeshadow on my waterline represent the ocean and the seaweeds.
(I've been wanting to do something with white eyeliner as well, but I haven't found a nice white liquid eyeliner yet, so suggestions are welcome!)

I used my MAC eyeshadows in "Steamy", "Plumage", "Espresso" and "Satin Taupe" and The Balm Bon Voyage palette to create this look .

Let me know what you think!
Have a nice day!

Catrice Velvet Matt lipcream review!

Goodmorning everyone! How have you been?
I've been buying - and trying - new products recently. Even though I've tested a lot of them, there are only a few I want to write about on the blog. If I really dislike something, I will not talk about it online, so even though I've had quite a bit of work, you've seen nearly nothing.

One of the things I have been crazy about is liquid lipsticks. I told you before that I was a bit late to get into it, but I'm currently trying all kinds of brands. Today's review is on what Catrice calls their "Velvet Matt lip cream".

The packaging of the product is pretty simple, it's just a matt tube with black letters on the packaging. Nothing too exciting.

The lipcream is called "Plumming bird". I'm not too excited about the packaging, but I always love the names of Catrice's products!

This is what the applicator looks like. It's made of soft hairs and it's quite flexible.

Here's a swatch of what the lip cream looks like. It looks glossy when you first apply it, but it dries after a couple of minutes.

I love the texture, it's very smooth and soft, but sometimes it's hard to get thesame coverage all over, some spots might seem darker and other might seem lighter.
You will get the look you're going for, but you might have to spend a few more minutes on it.
You could also just put this lipcream over a lipliner or a lipstick, that will make it easier to even everything out.

I'm a fan of this product, I think it's a beautiful colour (even though I must admit I thought it'd be darker, judging what the colour looked like in the packaging).
I like the texture and pigmentation as well, the only thing that could possibly ever bother you is evening out this lip cream.
I find that practice makes perfect and you get the hang of it very quickly.

Have you tried this product yet? And if so, would you recommend it?
Thanks for reading! I'll see you soon!

Summer photos #2

Goodmorning everyone! How have you been?
I've been taking a bit of a break, juggling a bunch of things, trying to make all of them work out. I've been feeling a bit uninspired this last week so I've been doing everything I can to come up with something new and creative.
Of course, life hasn't stood still in the meantime, that's why I'm taking you on a trip through this last week!

I personally love going out for a drink, lunch or dinner. I'd rather have less luxury and the ability to go out every once in a while, instead of having a fancy car and not being able to do anything. Last week has been filled with good food, nice drinks - and of course - the occassional Snapchats to go along with it.

Food pictures... What else?

I love to cook myself as well - it relaxes me and I try out different recipes very often. I want to get better at it though. More sophisticated, better techniques, more surprising tastes...

I went through the old pictures on my Facebook and was actually shocked by how much I've changed! The picture on the left is me when I was about 16 years old I think, and the picture on the right was taken a couple of days before my 20th birthday.
I feel like I've changed a lot, but also just a little.

My friend gave birth to a baby boy last week and this week I finally found some time to go visit him. Of course Auntie Eva brought gifts! I'm so very proud of my friend and her gorgeous son! He is the cutest and also the sweetest baby ever! No crying, no whining and a smile from time to time - does it get better than that?

This year I decided I wanted to travel a lot, but aside from Rome and Rotterdam, I haven't had the chance to go anywhere yet. I'm thinking of locations that could be fun though! Perhaps I can still do a citytrip before school starts in September.

Found a blooper photo from when I was goofing around last week!
These pictures never make it on the blog, but I swear, I have more silly pictures than normal ones! Perhaps I should change my outfit of the day concept to a silly face off concept!

And of course, I'm ending this post with a few pictures that have inspired me this week! I hope they'll inspire you as well!

Have a great, great day!
I hope to see you soon!

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid review!

Goodmorning everyone!
A couple of days ago I told you about me getting on the liquid lipstick bandwagon - I'm very very late!
I reviewed my first Catrice liquid lipstick, which was a good experience for me. I enjoy that liquid lipstick and it made me even more excited to test the second one I got that day: my Maybelline liquid lipstick in the colour "05 Nude Flush".

The packaging of this liquid lipstick is quite simple. It's just a rectangular tube. I do like that they made the top of the liquid lipstick matte, it's a small detail, but it makes sense if you're trying to sell a matte product, make your packaging matte as well. That's something some other brands haven't thought of.

This liquid lipstick came out a lot pinker than I thought. I actually thought it was going to be more nude.
"Nude Flush" has a good coverage, it's not one of those lipglosses or lipsticks that are streaky and take hours to apply evenly. The colour payoff is amazing and the texture is very soft. It does feel quite thick and it is rather sticky on my lips. I'm personally not a big fan of that but okay.

Aside from the gorgeous colour payoff and the very smooth texture, I do have some negative things to say about this Matte Liquid Lipstick (unfortunately):

The first thing I don't like about this liquid lipstick is that it doesn't feel like a liquid lipstick to me. I thought it'd dry - because that's what the product description says it will do - but it doesn't and it's quite sticky, which is a bit annoying, like I said before.
I thought it'd be a matte liquid lipstick and the best thing I can compare it to is the Nivea lip balms - the really creamy ones. That's what it feels like. I've tried keeping this liquid lipstick on for a couple hours, but they don't seem to go matte.

The second thing I absolutely hate is the taste of this product. You know, sometimes it'll get on your teeth or you might accidentally get a bit of product in your mouth... Most brands have lipsticks that smell nice and don't taste very bad, but this Matte Liquid Lipstick tastes like hell - and we all know that's not a good thing when it comes to lip products.

I'm not as impressed with this product as I thought I'd be. I really wanted to like it, but I don't think I'll be getting another one of these. Ever.
Sorry.

OOTD: Pinky promise!

Hi! I'm a bit late with my post today, my apologies!
It's been a while since I've done an outfit post, I was starting to miss it already. But, here I am, with my first outfit post of August!
Have a look!

On the way to the location where we wanted to shoot the pictures, we saw some funny and/beautiful things. This was hanging outside a café, which I thought was pretty funny.

Today's outfit was pretty simple. I simply paired my black jumpsuit with a cropped checkered shirt, which I tied together to create a waistline.
I combined them with my new white shoes, which have a glittery detail - so cute!

Since this outfit was pretty simple, I decided to spice things up with accessories: my clutch being the most important detail in this outfit. It's a very hot pink bag in the shape of a bow. I got it ages ago but never wore it, until now!

Clutch: New Look
Jumpsuit: New Look
Checkered shirt: H&M
Shoes: local store
Pearl bracelet: Claire's

Essence Matt Matt Matt lipstick in "It's a statement!"

Good morning gorgeous Fashionista In The Dark readers! Today we're going to make a statement! Oh yes, oh yes!

I'm pretty hyped up at the moment and it's all because of the new lipstick I got today! You know me, I go in the store to get some much needed liquid eyeliner and I walk out with a bunch of lip products, highlighters and more.
Today I walked out with nearly all the make-up products in the store. One of those products was this Essence Limited Edition lipstick, called "It's a statement". Want to see the statement I'm making? Keep reading!

This baby is what I'm talking about. My god, isn't it gorgeous?
Like I said, I was looking for liquid eyeliner and this was on the Limited Edition display as one of "Essence's favourites". Even though the packaging didn't look very spectacular to me, the lipstick itself sure did!

I think it's a matt lipstick.... ;)

Look at this swatch!
Such a pretty colour! The pigmentation of this lipstick is OFF THE HOOK - and yes I just sounded like a nineties kid, but I don't even care. It's what this lipstick does to me.
Speaking of nineties, isn't this a very nineties colour?

This is what the lipstick looks like on me. I was a bit scared that it'd be too dark but I think I can get away with this.
This lipstick is - like I said - very pigmented, it's easy to apply and it applies evenly, which is very important (especially with lipsticks this dark). It does dry out my lips a bit though, which is a bit annoying but obviously, it's something you can expect when putting on a matt lipstick.

Because the lipstick is so dark you will see when it starts to fade (for example when you've had a snack or you've had a lot to drink), so you need to touch up every once in a while. I kept it on for three hours before I had to touch up for the first time. I'll also add that because this colour is so dark, it'll leave a stain on your lips when you first try to get it off.
Make-up remover patches are your friend in this case!

I hope you enjoyed my review, I for one am very impressed with the lipstick. The receipt doesn't tell me the difference between all the Essence products I got (it just says "Make-up Essence" and ten different numbers for the ten different things I got) so I don't remember how much it was exactly, but the most expensive item I got today was €3.50.
Safe to say it was very affordable!

Thanks for reading! I wish all of you tons of kiss stains from the people you love!
 Bye!

OOTD: Somewhere on a boat

Hello everyone! I'm back with an outfit of the day!
It's been quite a while since I've done one, but this one I liked in particular. I'm wearing a copper/burgundy maxi dress with an open back (which is so beautiful)! Of course, I was on a boat and it was quite windy so I wrapped my favourite scarf around me and secured it with a burgundy belt that had gold detailing on it as well! Not my usual style, but I actually liked it!

Simple, but sometimes that's all you need. Simplicity is key.

I got my scarf as a gift and I can't remember where I got the dress... Sorry about that!
Have a good day!

Wet 'n Wild CoverAll concealer review!

I love waking up and seeing the sun rise. I love the smell of the earth when it's has rained overnight. I love getting out of bed and starting a new day.
I love going from sometimes a tired face, to a clean, fresh and 'enhanced' face.

I have two favourite moments when I'm doing my make-up: the moment when my make-up is done and it still looks perfect, and the moment I first put on the concealer. Oh god, I love that moment. Especially because the last few under eye concealers I've had are pretty good ones!

Nevertheless, I'm always looking for good concealers and I'm always willing to try different brands. This week, I got one from Wet 'n Wild.

The packaging isn't very exciting to be honest. It's a concealer, simple as that. I actually forgot to check the shade back in the store.
I wish I could have gotten a lighter shade - because it's way easier to use under your eyes, it'll really lighten up the dark area under your eyes- but I got "Medium", which is fine too.

The applicator looks like a lipstick applicator. It's nice, it works, I like it.

Swatch!
This concealer is very lightweight but with a nice texture. I find that just one layer gives me enough coverage but you could build the layers up as well. I wouldn't recommend doing that under the eyes because it might get in fine lines and crease a bit if you don't set it with powder, but if you have acne, this will work out for you (at least it did for me).

Here's a before and after picture. Like I said, you can see a bit of difference but a lighter shade would have been more ideal.
However, I'm going to keep using this concealer for acne or I might get a lighter concealer and just mix the two together. Either way, I'm not disappointed with Wet 'n Wild.
Lovely!

Have a very nice day! See you soon!
