Weekly Diary!

Hello sweeties!
Happy Easter! I'm in the mood to eat lots and lots of chocolate today, but before I do that I'm going to show you what my week looked like!

The week started off with exams, I skipped a few days from blogging and studied quite a bit. The results turned out to be really good! I didn't even fail math so I'm very very proud of myself, haha!

This week Elle magazine Belgium also attacked a blogger personally in a column saying that bloggers are only after money, that they'll publish anything as long as they get paid a lot, and all the people who read blogs are stupid and jealous and don't have anything else to do. Well, I don't know what's up with journalists writing this because journalists and bloggers are all doing thesame: writing and publishing. And so what if someone has luck and gets sponsored, journalists get sponsored as well so what is this all about?
PS I don't know if you have noticed, but I never write something just to get paid. Obviously the girl who wrote that article doesn't have much experience with bloggers. Not all bloggers are good, but not all of them are bad either.

Slowly, very very VERY slowly, the spring is coming! My orchids and I are waiting impatiently!

My friends and I have the habbit of grabbing a bite when the exams finish. It's a bit of a "celebration" that the exams are over. Here I am with my gay best friend, we had lunch at McDonald's and I almost chocked laughing. But hey, it was fun and I'm still alive!

New makeup items! I treated myself because I had good results on my report card. Ahh I can't get over how beautiful these makeup products are! They put a smile on my face!

How was your week? I hope you're all okay and I hope you had as much fun as I had!
Take care!

Essence Beauty Haul!

Hello you guys,
yesterday after getting my report card I decided to go shopping. I had hit pan on a boat load of stuff and even after finishing my makeup challenge I didn't get anything new, so I thought my good result was a nice excuse to get some new makeup.

There were a lot of things that I wanted but that I didn't buy, such as the smokey eye set from Catrice, the nude palette (which wasn't available uhg! I want it so badly!) and another lipstick from Kate Moss by Rimmel London, but I decided not to overreact and just get the items I wanted/needed the most.
Back in the car, I realized all the products I got were by Essence - well I have to admit, they had really nice stuff! You might have seen these items on other blogs already because I'm pretty late with these items and collections, but hey, better late than never!

So here are all the items that I got; an Essence eyebrow kit, a liquid eyeliner (really needed a new one!), a matte red lipgloss called "Silky Red", two Essence 3D eyeshadows and a blush.
The 3D eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous, they're called "Irresitible Vanilla latte" (the eyeshadow on the left) and "Irresistible chocolates" (the eyeshadow on the right).

And then there's my last - and probably favourite item- a blush from the "Vintage District" collection. It's called "It's popul-art" and it's probably the most beautiful blush I have ever seen!
The design is really really nice but also the colours are amazing. I know the gold is just an overspray, so after using it for a couple of times the gold will be gone but still.... How could anyone ever say no to something like this?

I'm absolutely in love with my new items and I'm verry happy I got them! I will be reviewing all of these items seperately for you (other wise my post is going to be too long)!
Have you tried any of these products?

Have a nice day!

Products I've hit pan on!

Hello you guys!
How are you all? Do you have favourite beauty items? I do, and I feel like I hit pan on them way too soon! When I was younger, and when I just started out experimenting with makeup, I liked hitting pan because than I could get another product, but now I'm liking it much less! I'm going to show you the products on which I have hit pan today!

The product I regret hitting pan on the most is my Catrice All Round Concealer. I have used up the two lightest skincare concealers, they are amazing and I will be repurchasing this product! I'm keeping this palette for the green concealer that's in it, because I might need it in case of extreme acne.

Next I have a palette by Paris Memories in "Shade 29", I made a look with it a little while ago, you can look it up if you want to. I love the champagne colour a lot, I regret hitting pan on it. I don't use the brown eyeshadow on the right, it just broke and fell out.
Next I have a drugstore palette with four shimmery cream eyeshadows, I use the gold and the white colour the most, and as you can see, I've hit pan on the white cream eyeshadow - I use it for my eyes and as highlight, it's just a really nice colour that can be used for a lot of things!

The makeup palette that you see in this picture (below) is from thesame drugstore as the cream eyeshadow palette. I've hit pan on the yellow-ish colour, I absolutely loved that colour and I'm quite sad it's almost gone. Great palette, nice pigmentation, easy to apply, ah - one of my favourites of all times (you don't always need high end products to have good quality!).

Next you see my Diadermine daycream that's almost empty and the cream below is my Essence gel eyeliner in "Midnight in Paris". I did hit the bottem quite a bit but you can't really see it.
Also this eyeliner isn't very smooth anymore after being opened for a couple of months - do you guys have any tips?

And last but not least I have my powder by Miss Sporty, which is a Dutch brand, it's in "02 Medium" and I have emptied two powders before, I love it!

What products are you hitting pan on?

Have a lovely day!

Essence Fruity Eyeshadow Sorbet review

In spring and summer I love wearing bright coloured makeup but some days I also like to keep my face pretty calm and neutral. Some days I just really don't want to spend too much time on it.
A little while ago my friend got my an Essence fruity eyeshadow sorbet in a nice peachy, shimmery colour. Perfect for those 'easy makeup days' in spring and summer! I don't know how much it cost because my friend got it for me but I'm pretty sure it's budget proof as well!

The packaging is adorable, the lid of this little jar has about thesame colour as the product in it, this just screams 'spring'!

Here's a swatch of the eyeshadow sorbet, it's easy to apply and the colour is buildable.
I did notice that it can be hard to apply this colour equally all over the lid. Usually the colour looks a little bit brighter on the inside of my eye, and you can see the 'strokes' where you have applied it and that just bothers me a little bit. When I apply something, I want it to look equal all over my lid.

I sometimes use this as a base and then apply another colour eyeshadow over it, you can go so many different way with it!
If I could choose I would probably go for a Maybelline color tattoo next time, but that isn't as budgetproof. You don't have the strokes with that though!

Face of the day: Old Hollywood

Hi guys! I'm back!
God, am I happy that math exam is over!

Today's weater is nice. It's still cold (still freezing maybe?) but the sun is shining and it's not snowing anymore. I love sunny (and warm) weather because it makes me feel like dressing up. Today I decided I wanted to have a "fancy face".
Liquid, winged eyeliner is a part of my daily look, but I've been skipping the red lipstick these last weeks - so I decided to go for a bit of a "glamour", "old hollywood" look by applying red lipstick and bright pink blush again. I have also been wearing my hair to the side lately, I don't know if I want to grow my bangs out yet or not. It would be nice for vintage hairstyles, but I like my bangs as well, my hair just grows too fast to keep them for a long time.
You'll find a list of the products that I have used below the pictures.

Products used on my face:

FIT ME foundation in "115" by Maybelline
Catrice eyebrow pencil
Catrice "Apricot Smoothie" blush
Drugstore liquid eyeliner
Nivea Lash Elastic mascara
Rimmel London by Kate Moss in "111 Kiss of life"

Have a lovely day!

Weekly Diary

Hello everyone!
Today I'm going to show you what my week looked like. Earlier this week I posted that I didn't have a lot of time because the exams were coming up but I've been writing and saving posts so all I have to do is publish them when I come online.

This week was all right, exept for the pressure when it comes to exams (next week, ahhh!). We only have five exams so it's okay, but it's only the most important subjects so I can't fail!
Besides that Friday was a pretty emotional day as well. We got our report card, which wasn't really that important, but we also had to say goodbye to our economy teacher.
Well, she's actually a substitute because our "real" teacher was on maturnity leave but since we had so many classes with her the group was getting close to her and now that's she's "leaving" us, it was a bit annoying and hard. We planned a surprise party, baked muffins and cake, bought Coca Cola and chips, cried, but still had a lovely time!

That evening I also got two new books. I'm looking forward to the end of the exams so I can start reading them!

Stu-dying

Well hello, lovely little bird!
I love birds, they're in my garden all the time in summer but in winter we haven't seen them as often as we normally would. However, they seem to be returning and I couldn't be more excited!

And then this morning I was disappointed once again. Snow. Once again.
It's not much but still, it's snow!

How was your week? I hope you guys are all doing good!
I probably won't be updating tomorrow but I'll do my best to post on Tuesday! I love you guys, thanks for reading!

March book buys

Hi guys! I'm on a study break right now so I thought that maybe it would be nice to show you guys this months book buys. I only do these kind of posts when I've bought more than one book in a month, and this month I got three.
I love books, I buy them all the time, but especially now it takes me a little while to read them. It's a good thing I'll have two weeks off soon, so that I can catch up on my books.

So the first book I got this month is "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth. It's part of a series. First I got "Divergent", the first book in this dystopian series and I loved it so much that I went to check my bookstore very week. It took me a little while to find this book and when I did I had to have it! Of course, now I don't really know what happened in the first book so I'll be re-reading that one, just to understand the second one better.

And then yesterday I got two Stephen King books, they were cheaper than normally and since I don't own any Stephen King books yet (I have read a few already though) so I though I wouldn't regret getting these.
Whenever I read a chapter that he's written I get so scared that I can't sleep for two days (last book I read was about a man who killed his wife and rats would start to haunt him - and that was only the beginning!)
But I admire the man and I think I will enjoy these books a lot. I'm really excited to read these books. I'll probably do that in weekends or so, so that I don't appear like a zombie at school, haha!

"Lisey's story" and "Four past midnight"

Bookreviews will be up as soon as I finish the books! Do you have any book recommandations for me?
I'll see you soon!

Study break!

Hello everyone! How are you doing?
I hope you're doing great. Don't expect to read fashion, lifestyle or beauty news in this post because I'm just writing this to tell you I probably will skip a few days of blogging!
Not because I don't like it anymore, I'm having exams again, that's why.
This time I'm only doing exams on my main subjects, which means that I'll be doing math, economy (twice), French and Dutch. Not the easiest subject, right? That's why I want to take my time and prepare really good, so that I can be proud of myself in the end!

I will be blogging every single day again starting Thursday, because that's when my exams end, so then I'll have plenty of time again! It's a shame I have to take a little break now that the blog is doing really good but school is still really important for my future.
I hope you understand and I want to thank you for reading my blog, because after all, I don't think I do this enough!

Have a lovely day!

Summer Fashion Wishlist

Hello you guys! Since it's March already I am looking out for summer clothes! I have looked online, in shops, and I'm sure of what I want already!
As you probably already know I'm addicted to/obsessed with the 1920-1950 era. It's quite hard to find so a lot of the clothes I want will have to be ordered online.

One of my favourite shops so far is topvintage.nl, a Dutch online vintage shop that I have been checking on a weekly or sometimes even daily basis.
The only thing about vintage dresses is that they're far more expensive than H&M or New Look dresses, so I can't buy ten of them all at once.

That's why today I'm going to show you three dresses that I absolutely love and want. They're on the top of my wishlist!
Do you like them? What's on the top of your wishlist when it comes to fashion?

H
ave a lovely Wednesday!

Lifestyle: About being yourself!

Hi guys. Today I'm writing a little lifestyle post for you guys, since I think some of you can use it. It's about being yourself. Of course everyone is different but I just wanted to write a little post and talk to you guys about it, because after all, who can really say they are who they want to be these days? We're living in a world where society is telling you what to do, how to dress, how to feel, how to behave, how to look. There is such a pressure on us that it's really hard to be yourself in a world where everyone is constantly trying to change you. When being "different" (I prefer calling it "being yourself") some people will actually treat you like you're weird and mentally ill. I've been accused of it too.
What?!

A lot of times people say "don't care what everyone thinks, be who you want to be", but when you actually do they will turn your back on you. I have always loved pin-up girls, vintage ladies, but it was only a few months ago I started acting and dressing like one. Yes, I've had some rough times too. Not that I was bullied at school, it was just annoying, whenever I would do victory rolls or pin-up bangs, some of the guys (immature really) would pull my hair so that my hairdo would be ruined and all the pins I had been putting in there all morning would be lost. Whenever I put a bandana in my hair they would do thesame and it hurt, not only because they refused to accept me, also because they always pulled more hair than bandana really.

I would even get asked "why can't you act normal, like everyone else?"
Who can tell you what normal is? Society? I don't want to be like everyone else and I refused to be like everyone else. I just dressed how I wanted, acted how I wanted and did my hair how I wanted. After all, I'm never going to see these people again after high school and I don't want to regret the good years I've waisted because of fear. Fear of people who really aren't worth telling me how I should be. I think that's one of the biggest problems these days - the pressure.
But those people are never going to be a part of my life, they're not a part of my future. I am. I don't live to please them, I live to please me, because how can I ever become happy if I can't even be who I want to be and do what I want to do?

I still do get a lot of comments on my looks and questions like "why are you dressing vintage, are you living in the past?"
No. I just do it because I like it. I just do it because I want it.
I do it because I believe the 1950's were really happy times, better times than now actually. People would be happier, kids would obey their parents, divorces didn't seem to exist...
I do it because I can be myself that way, because I love expressing myself that way.
And after a while I actually found people who could accept that.  I got comments from people, but positive ones this time. People who like my style and think it's adorable and amazing. People who like the way I did my hair. People who love my passion for girls like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Jane Russel, Gene Tierney, Lana Turner, Jane Mansfield, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Lauren and so on...

It makes me feel good and it makes me very proud. Dyeing my hair red, putting on eyeliner and red lipstick and pulling vintage dresses out of my closet have put a smile on my face and a sparkle in my eye that I wouldn't have had if I gave up on what I really believed in.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I'm still insecure, but who isn't? Everyone has those days or those moments. I'm glad I already got this far without giving up. It took me some time to get there and it took me courage but after all I think it was worth the "struggle".

A little bit of a longer post today, I know, but I hope I helped some of you with it because I know I needed support in the beginning as well.
The first steps are always the hardest, I believe in myself more now then I ever did. I hope you guys don't have to deal with people like I have when you're struggeling with who you are and who you want to be. All I can say is: go for it.
At the end of the day, if it turns out not to be your cup of tea, you can always change back.
Makeup comes off, clothes come off and if you did something crazy with your hair you can still dye it or grow it again - and try something that you think might fit you better.

Kérastase Elixer Kultime Review

Hello you guys! I have written about hair oils quite some times on this blog. Most of the time I tell you I don't like to use it because it makes my hair really greasy really fast. In believe I got this Kérastase hair oil in my last Deauty box in December and I was like "not again, I'm not going to use this". But since I've been trying hairstyles a lot lately, and I've been curling and teasing my hair quite a lot, I noticed that I couldn't keep doing this to my hair without damaging it or making it really dry. So I had to find a solution. My hairdresser has used oil on my hair before drying it, just a little bit to the ends, so I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to prevent dry ends.

This Kérastase hair oil is called the "Elixer Kultime", it's a radiating and beautifying scented oil for colour-treated hair.
I normally don't like scented products because you never know if you're going to like the smell or not and if you don't like it, it's really hard to try and use the product up, but I do like this scent. It smells like my hairdresser's products: nothing too extravagent and also you'll probably love this smell when you're 15, but 'adult' women will like it as well.

Another thing I like about this hair oil is that it's for colour-treated hair! After all that's very important to me because I have red hair and I have to be careful with the colours I use, so that I don't strip my hair of it's colour.
The bottle holds 50 ml and I think I'll be able to use it for a very long time since I only use a teeny tiny drop every time I washed my hair.

I know I didn't give hair oils much credit in the past but I think I might at some point ajust my opinion about them, after all, oils have their charms too!
Do you like using hair oils? Which one do you use?

Have a lovely day!

Weekly Diary

Hello lovelies!
Time for another weekly diary! Just like all other weeks, this week has brought both good and bad things for me! Mostly good, though! I'm going to show you a few pictures of my week! I hope you have had a lovely week as well, did you? Let me know!

Angelica Photography All Rights Reserved © 2013

I have been following Idda Van Munster on Facebook for a week now and I can't get used to how gorgeous she is. Everytime she puts up a new picture I sit there with my mouth open thinking "oh my god, how can someone be this beautiful?"
She's a true inspiration when it comes to beauty and vintage styles.

I've been playing around with my camera as well, taking pictures of plants in my room. I loved this picture in particular. My orchid doesn't bloom anymore now but the two last flowers are still hanging there. I know a lot of people won't like the picture but I love it. Especially because it fits with one of my favourite quotes: "It was tragically beautiful".

Snow!

Working for school! We only have one more week of classes left and then it's time for exams. Again. I don't know how I'm going to survive, but I'll try!

Also this week was the first time my hair actually looked "good"! I managed to do the barrol roll and I was so extremely proud of it! I love it!

Did you have a good time this week?
