2013's new years resolutions!

Hello everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the last day of 2012. I wanted to do a little post talking about this year a bit, it has been crappy at times but I also gained a lot of good stuff.
So much has happened this year, I don't even know where to start...
First of all,  I'd really like to thank my readers, because you have welcomed me back to Fashionista In The Dark after leaving this blog for a few weeks.
You have supported me all by commenting and following. A lot of you guys are so sweet and I met gorgeous and talented bloggers over the last few months. But also the people who just come on this blog every day to read what I say... It's amazing! I've gained so much ever since starting to blog again and it's just wonderful, I love blogging so much and I wouldn't want to give it up ever again.
So I'd also like to wish you all the best for this new year. A new, fresh start, a year of trying to become a better person than you already are. Or if you're great already, a year of keeping up, a year of being thesame, lovely sweetheart you were last year.

As for me, I'm just going to try and be a better version of myself. Be more polite, work harder (for school), help more people, work out more, that kind of stuff. I don't want to write down too many goals because I might never accomplish them, but this is what I'll be going for, the full 100%.

Also I found this really cool concept that you can do for the new year!
All you need is a big, glass jar. Everytime something good happens in 2013, you write it down and put it in the jar. In exactly one year (so December 31, 2013), you empty the jar and read everything you've written down. That way you are reminded of all the good things that came your way that year.
Pretty cool, huh? I thought it was so cool so I decided to share it with you guys.

Have a great day everyone! X

12 Beauty Favorites of 2012

Goodmorning everyone, happy Saturday! I hope you're all doing well!

Today I'm going to show you my twelve favourite beauty products of 2012, so this is going to be a pretty long post, I guess.
2012 has been a great year for me, I got the chance to purchase some high end products and my collection grew a lot! That's probably because of the blog a little bit too, but I think it's great I get the opportunity to do this.
A lot of the products in this post were only recently purchased!

Also, this year Belgium (which is where I live) has got his own beauty box called "Deauty", I've done quite a few posts on this box so if you read my blog often you'll probably know this. Wow! The box is a true example for other boxes, the products were always high quality and in each box I found something that I liked in particular. I'm talking Essie nailpolishes, Clinique and L'oréal mascara's,...

The first product is the very first high end beauty product I ever purchased! It's the YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm. I got it in the beginning of September and I still use it on a daily basis!

This lipbalm by Kiehl's came in my October Deauty Box, which was the very first box I got. I have written a short review before, you can read it here.

Oh dear, this blush is the most perfect thing ever to me! Budget, but such a great product! Read a review here.

Another budget product: Essence quattro eyeshadow palette in "To Die For". I use this palette on a daily basis to create neutral looks, I like it very much, the colours are great and look fantastic when used together. You can click here to see my daily makeup look.

I've been using my L'oréal True Match foundation this whole year. I would repurchase it if I ever emptied mine. It blends in great and matches my skin colour just fine. Also the coverage is nice.

When I discovered this allround concealer palette by Catrice I was really happy. I know it's not a new product, however, I never really tried it. This palette holds five different concealer colours: green, pink and three skintoned colours (you can mix them to get the perfect shade for your skin colour). On the back, there's written what each colour can be used for. The concealers are very creamy and good for daily use. This palette is cheaper than if you'd buy five individual concealers! You can read reviews here. You'll also find some reviews of other products mentioned in that post.

I don't know if you noticed but I've been loving palettes! The next one on my wishlist is a palette by Dior, but for now I'm happy with the (drugstore) palettes that I have. This one is from Essence, it's from the sun club collection and it has the name "02 long beach". This palette holds a few "brighter" colours and a few neutral colours. Great for fall and winter. Very inexpensive as well and as you can see in the picture, the pigmentation isn't too bad either.

There's another sun club palette. The first palette "01 south beach", is a palette with a lot of shimmery, funky, bright colours. It's a palette that holds great colour for summer, such as bright yellow, blue, green, silver and gold toned colours. However, I haven't been using/loving that one as much as this second palette.

Do you remember this lipstick?! I only got it recently (last week, I think), and I hauled it already, click here for the shopping haul! A review is coming up as soon as possible! I really love this lipstick! So perfect!

Another lipstick I got! 2012 really was a "lipstick year" for me. I used to hate lipsticks because I thought eyeshadows were more interesting but after wearing red lipstick for a few days, my opinion changed! I really starting loving lipsticks. Most lipsticks I got this year were red lipsticks, because I fell in love with them.
This "Kiss Of Life" lipstick by Rimmel London (from the Kate Moss collection) was the last one in the store! God, am I lucky! It's the perfect red, I like it very much!

I haven't done a post on these two eyeshadow yet, but I will soon. These are the colours "Have you seen my unicorn" from the Fantasia collection, and "Swirl it, baby", from the Marble Mania collection. Both eyeshadows are by Essence and they look amazing when used together. Normally I like to use brown eyeshadows for my daily looks, but I've been wearing this combination quite a bit as well! I feel like this is a very safe way to experiment with colour. Also the baby pink is great because, unlike other pinks, it doesn't make me look like I'm dying! Great!

Another product I only recently discovered!
The Essence highlighter from their "Fantasia" collection. This highlighter is cheap, it's quite big (it's as big as my pressed powder), and it looks amazing! Again, a review is coming up very soon!

Et voilà, these were my twelve favies of 2012. Don't forget to let me know what your favourites were!

Monthly Diary: December

Hello everyone! How are you doing?
It's the end of December and soon we're going to be starting a new - and hopefully awesome - year. This month has to be my favourite month ever; Christmas, presents, New Years Eve and all of that stuff. I really had a great time this month (exept for the exams in the beginning of the month). On the 29th of December it's actually the one year anniversary of my first book, I'm working on a second one as we speak!

I got a lot of presents and also a bit of stuff for myself. A makeup kit, the Essence Fantasia eyeshadow in 'Have you seen my unicorn' and 'Kiss of life', a red lipstick by Rimmel London.
I have a bunch of stuff that you guys haven't seen yet, a lot of clothes as well!

Finally got the new J.K. Rowling book! Yay! I'm still reading, it's a pretty big book!

The Harry Potter series were on my wishlist this year! Yay! I have five of the books at the moment!

Yay Christmas decoration! I really love all the lights and all the christmas trees!

That's what my month looked like! I hope you had a great month and great holidays!

An outfit of the day without a title!

Hello everyone! A little while back, I'm not sure when ( I forgot), I wore this outfit. It's just basic and simple and very casual, but I decided to take a few pictures of it so that I could show it to you.
It's probably not my best outfit of the day, but it was very comfortable!

Don't mind my hair! I had a really really bad hair day!
Have a nice day!

Another great year has (almost) passed and another new start is waiting for us! But first, we're all going to celebrate the amazingness of last year.

Have a good day and don't forget to enjoy. I love you guys.

Estée Lauder Violet Crush Review

Hello everyone!
A few days back I got a great product: a new lipstick.
It's called "Violet Crush", a nice matte lipstick by Estée Lauder. It's a purple/pink lipstick. I really love wearing bright colours for lipstick, like hot pink, red and purple so I decided to get this for myself, as a little treat. I wrote about it really quickly in a haul but then I never mentioned it again, so that's why today I wanted to do a review on this Violet Crush lipstick!

The first thing I really like is the packaging. I think it's so beautiful. Obviously I have seen this packaging before but I've never had a lipstick that looked this good (exept for a YSL one). I know that people often say that you pay the packaging too but in this case I don't really have a problem with that, I mean, look how gorgeous it is!
I just got this without planning it so I can't really tell you why I got that colour. I guess I was just in the mood for something crazy and I loved how it looked on my hand when I swatched it. The pigmentation is really really great. I love the colour. Not everyone will wear a colour like this, I think, but I wanted to try it.
After having it on for a few hours and eating and drinking a lot it goes off a bit but it does leave a purple stain on your lips.
This lipstick is a matte so there's no kind of shimmer or anything in it. Also you just have to be careful because when your lips aren't smooth, you'll see this after applying the lipstick. I don't really have problems with that.

I really think this colour is amazing, I think it's special and cute and I'll probably wear it very often. It's pretty obvious that not everyone will be crazy about this but I am and I'm definently crushing on the violet (get it?) Do you like this colour?

Have a great day!

Cheap Party Palettes: Swatches

Hello everyone!
Yes, a bit of a late post today, I went shopping again haha! I got some stuff for family and friends and a few christmasy things for myself. At first I wanted to buy a Christmas tree for my room but I ended up getting some other Christmas stuff. Can you believe we're only three days away from Christmas? Woah it doesn't feel like Christmas at all!
I also got beauty and fashion items.
I can't wait to make outfit posts and makeup looks with everything I got!

I already made swatches of a few makeup palettes I got. I got this from action, which is a store that has almost everything for a very low price. I wanted to test their makeup because I know not everyone can afford high end brands, and since I'm a beauty blogger, I kind of have to give every makeup brand a chance. So here are the makeup palettes that I got today:

I got three different colours: brown, black and blue. Those were the only three you could get and I like wearing all of them so...

The eyeshadows are pretty big,  I feel like you could use them for quite a while. They also come with an applicator. The packaging is pretty simple.

So now it's time for the swatches! Well holy moly! All of the colours are only ONE wipe! Can you believe it? I love the pigmentation of these palettes! That's really great!

I do really think that this is a very affordable palette. The pigmentation is great and you can choose between three palettes (or you can get them all three, like I did.)

The yellow colour on the right is a little bit harder to see....

I will be doing makeup looks on these very soon and I'll review them in thesame post! I'm really excited!

December Deauty box Unboxing

Hello! I got my December Deauty box! Yay! I'm so happy, I really love getting this every month! I only paid for three months to try it so this is the last month for me. I might subscribe for three more months, I'm still doubting a little bit.
This month had a few items that really surprised me, the good way.

The first thing you always see is the black box "Deauty on it". I love the bird that holds a mirror, it's very cute.

This month we got some "beauty stuff organizer"stickers.

And this is what was inside the box!

The first thing I got was extra-gentle dry shampoo with oat milk by Klorane. I'm glad that I got some dry shampoo because having bangs isn't always easy and some days they just get greasy without you really knowing what's going on with your hair. I can't wait to try this.

The second thing is another hair product. It's by Kérastase (I recieved two other Kérastase items in my previous box). This is a beautifying scented oil for colour treated hair (which is good because I dye my hair so...)

Next item is shower milk. This is by Bee Nature, it's an organic cosmetic brand that 100% Belgian.

Wow this next item was a great surprise! The Giorgio Armani "Acqua di Gio" perfume! It's only 5 ml but I'll enjoy every last bit of it!

And it just kept on coming! An Essie nailpolish! I never had one before but I always heard many many good things about it! Now I finally have my own! Well that's a nice surprise! This one is called "Bobbing for baubles" and it's a dark blue nailpolish. Sometimes it looks dark blue and sometimes you'd think it's a black nailpolish, it has a bit of grey tones in it as well! I swatched it on my thumb already and I have to say.... Thumbs up!

This is some kind of creme that you can use when you are suffering from a dull complexion and loss of radiance. I have never heard of this in my life but I'm open to anything so I'll try it!

Last but not least we got this! To pin on your shirt. Cute!

I am very happy with the things I found in my box this month! Reviews of all the products are coming up very soon!

Shopping Haul

Hi everyone!  Today I'm going to show you what I got when I went shopping yesterday. I know it's a little bit later than expected but the internet is so slow at the moment! Sorry!

I almost got Steve Madden shoes yesterday. After shopping for a few hours I had a lot of money left. I asked the girl in the store if they had the shoes that I liked in my size and she replied that there were almost no shoes left in my size! It made me a little bit sad because I really loved the shoes they had in the store. Next time better?
Anyways I did get quite a few beauty items and I'm going to show them today. There are both budget proof items and a high end item! Here we go!

The first palette I got is "Twinkle in the eye" by Catrice. I thought it looked cute and I didn't have any palette with colours that looked like this.

Swatches! Looks pretty good, huh?

This lipstick is called "Violet Crush". It's a matte lipstick.

Oh how glad I am I finally got myself a lipstick from Estée Lauder! I hear such good things about it all the time. This lipstick is pink/purple. It's a very special colour. I really love it. In the picture it'll look a bit more pink than it is in real life. Normally I like red lipsticks more but this one is really great as well!

This "stay all day" eyeshadow by Essence is called "Coppy right". I think it looks great! You can build up the colour and I just love it! The colour is a bit between green and brown.

I got two body butters! Oh god I really love these! They smell very very nice!

Another Essence item! A little while back I got an eyeshadow from the Fantasia collection and now I got a highlighter. The main reason I didn't get it last time is because it was sold out, haha! I heard great things about this and I'm very excited to try it. Doesn't look to bad, now does it? I really love the design.

Nothing really special, this last item. I got an eyebrow pencil by Catrice!
I also got some non-beauty items. I got 5 of the Harry Potter books (like I said, I really wanted them!). It was the perfect day to celebrate the ending of my exams.
Reviews and more pictures are coming up soon!

How was your day?
